質量分析を用いて、タンパク質や核酸、そしてその複合体の構造研究を行っています。

研究対象は主に核内タンパク質で、「結晶化できない、もしくは結晶化しても見たいところが見えない」ものについて、機能に関わる構造情報を獲得することを目指して研究をしています。

特に、タンパク質とDNAの巨大複合体であるヌクレオソームコア粒子（NCP）のアセチル化やメチル化などの修飾によりもたらされる機能変化の構造的要因を解明するべく、微量試料で解析でき、かつ結晶化や同位体標識等特別な試料調製を必要としない質量分析を用いて研究を展開しています。

また、夾雑環境下や生理的環境下で、金属タンパク質をはじめとする様々な生体高分子の機能している状態を質量分析で観測するための手法の開発やその応用研究も手掛けています。

We are interested in obtaining new knowledge of protein structure, function and interactions using mass spectrometry.

Our research targets are mainly nuclear proteins, which are difficult to crystallize.

In particular, we are trying to characterize the structural factors that lead to functional changes associated with modifications such as acetylation and methylation of nucleosome core particle (NCP), a large complex of protein and DNA, using mass spectrometry.

In addition, we are developing mass spectrometry techniques that enable analysis of proteins, DNA, and their complexes in crowding biosystems.
